info@HandgraafEstates.com SUMMARY Family in La Jolla is looking for an experienced home-school teacher / tutor for their 6th grade son. The ideal candidate has experience working in a private home-schooling setting and has taught / tutored children in elementary, middle or high-school.
The family is looking for a warm, knowledgeable and professional person that has the capability and intent to teach their son on his educational progress for the long-term. PRIMARY DUTIES
Experienced working with school-aged children.
Experienced with children in a private home domestic setting.
Knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when needed, but also capable of being laid back and fun).
Experienced in play-based learning and creating educational activities, lesson planning.
Develop children’s independence; help them be self-motivated.
Liaise with children’s progress, track and report to parents on educational progress.
Ensure children’s timetable is adequate and allows for the day to run smoothly.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to build a positive rapport with children.
Intuitive to the needs of the children.
Highly organized, detailed oriented, proactive, excellent time management skills.
Well groomed and professional.
Long-term intent.
Reliable and punctual.
Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask.

Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
Live locally and is able to commute.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development.
Understands the highest level of confidentiality and discretion is required
3-4 outstanding direct report references from current and previous professional positions. References will be verified.
Superb command of the English language, both written and oral, is required.
Technically savvy. Familiar with Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Calendar.
Ability to complete extensive background checks and motor vehicle checks.
Legal to work in the United States.
