SUMMARY
Lovely family located in Houston, TX is looking for a second private chef to fill-in for family's main chef when he/she is unavailable. The candiate will be repsonsible for preparing family-style dinners, fresh salads, and everyday meals in a private household, with a culinary focus on Mexican cuisine, complemented by French influences and Asian-fusion flavors. The role emphasizes approachable, high-quality food prepared in a relaxed yet service-oriented home environment (family style dinners)
The ideal candidate is confident in planning simple, seasonal menus, sourcing ingredients as needed, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen throughout service. Attention to detail, consistency, and respect for household preferences are essential.
The household seeks a dependable, discreet, and adaptable professional who enjoys working in a private residence and can respond to evolving schedules and needs. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, possess strong professional cooking experience, and be prepared to provide excellent references and successfully complete a background check.
Although the position starts out as Part-Time, it has the potential to develop into a Full-Time role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee all elements of hospitality, food and beverage service within the residence.
Successfully communicate with household staff to coordinate mealtimes so meals run smoothly and are executed on time
Manage food-related vendor and contractor relationships
Uphold the highest sanitary and cleanliness standards for the kitchen
Create meals according to the family’s preferences and adapt to the family’ preferences as they change
Prepare a variety of food to help develop the children’s palate
Source the freshest ingredients
Handle all aspects of grocery shopping, kitchen supply procurement, and inventory management.
Prepare and package breakfast for the kids and parents.
Additional chef responsibilities as needed and requested
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience as a Private Chef or similar role.
Strong command of the English language; superb communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent references from current and/or previous employers
Minimum 3 + years related experience working as a private chef for a private family
Comfortable working in a home environment with children and experience preparing meals and snacks for children of all ages
Comfortable working in an active family kitchen
Must be able to fully manage kitchen cleaning, stocking, serving, maintenance, etc.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
Professional in both mindset and manor; use of utmost discretion at all times
Works with positivity and is calm under pressure; always maintaining a warm and welcoming home environment.
Experience preparing a variety of cuisines including Asian and Mediterranean
Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
Legally able to work in the United States
